Here is the latest blanket…

I have a friend who is having a baby soon, but doesn’t (or didn’t) know if the baby was going to be a girl or a boy, so I made a blanket to fit both. I was awake very early this morning trying to finish it in time to give it to her at church…and unfortunately, woke with a migraine. So, I didn’t get to give it to myself. I hope that she likes the blanket (maybe she will leave a comment here)

Now, I think it is time for a much smaller project. I haven’t worked with thread in a little while and need to remind my fingers how to crochet little things. Then I will work on my daughters blanket…hopefully before any more new babies need their blankets

As I was making this blanket, I thought immediately of daffodiles. I made this blanket for a friend that I made at my ‘previous’ job. She is going to have a little girl within the next couple weeks and I am so excited for her.

Batteries have recharged and I have gotten the pictures of the camera…so here is the new blanket!

As the heading of this post says, I have finished another blanket. This one will be a gift to one of the new moms in my church. I took a picture just a minute ago, but…the batteries in the camera need to be recharged. So, I will get to share that with everyone tomorrow.

Today was a good day for my family to recharge as well. I have had a horrid migraine all day and spent much of the day trying to sleep through it. Eldest child has a nasty cold/cough/sore throat, and the boys, just had a quiet day at home. But tomorrow is back to school/work.

I was looking at this site just a little bit ago, when I realized that I forgot my Thursday Thirteen…so this week I will work on a really good list of things and have it posted on time Sorry to those who dropped by and couldnt find my Thursday post.

I have been thinking alot about my Dad this week.

An elderly friend of mine, asked me to give her a ride to the local funeral home for a viewing (wake, calling) of a friend that she had known for over 60 years. She asked if I wanted to go in. I really just felt sick. I had been in the funeral home about 6 months ago for my friends daughters wake…add that to my dads death and I just felt really sick. Needless to say, I didnt go into the funeral home. Other friends have called to find out how I am doing and as the conversations got going, the topic of my Dad came up.

Other things…I finished my first order this past week. A friend asked me to make a scarf for her to give to her Mom. I was really happy to have an actual customer that I finished the project in lest than 1 day! Then, I started another project. I am making a really pretty baby blanket for a little one that was born last Monday. I have 3 blankets in all to make over the next month or so.

Abby is almost finished with her anti-biotics. About 10 days ago, Ms Abby was tested for Bartonella and she came back with an extremely high level. Thankfully Socks and Blackie didnt catch it. Abby is starting to come around. Instead of running away when I stand up now, she goes under a kitchen chair and I can even walk right by her and she will not run. She has also been caught sleeping on beds, in my room…even with the kids watching tv in the same room.

Other than that, it has been pretty quiet here. I lead such a terribly exciting life.

I have been working on a blanket for my sister-in-law, for her birthday. She likes beach/ocean scenes and lighthouses. So when I found a yarn called ‘ocean’, I knew she would like it. I will be adding this blanket to my Craft Shoppe shortly.

And I found this wonderful box at the craft store where I work…and added the shells just because.

Finally, I added a paper twist bow.

Ok, I know it is a little bit of a stretch, but if you look at this guy, just the right way…well, just pretend it looks like a cat.

Hopefully, once I get the eyes and nose on, it will look a bit more like a cat.

I have been learning, for about a week now, how to knit. This is in addition to my crochet, which I definately like more than knitting. But I figured that I might as well try my hand at knitting again, as it has been years since I have tried. My neighbor has been helping me to learn and I also have a book to referance (as well as a ton of websites). In my teens, I had tried to knit, but I was never able to knit without making mistakes. Thankfully this time is going much better…except for the little mistake that I made about 3 rows ago. But as this is my practice piece, I will probably just start over.

And on other news…due to the massive amounts of spam that I have been getting lately…I have been forced to make some changes to the site. If you post a comment and it doesnt appear right away, please do not be alarmed. It will have gotten thrown into the moderation pile and I will add it onto the comments when I check the site.

…at least the cats think so!

Usually, Socks is the sleeping sitter, but lately Abby has decided that if the chair is empty (or if Socks is in it) she will curl up and take a nap. My little Minx is coming along so well, at times I want to just walk up to her and give her a little pet. She would run if I did though. This evening I held Abby for about 4 hours; she slept, purred, and was so happy to be in her little sleeping bag. I wish she would trust me a little more.

Yesterday, Abby was chasing Socks, I think that she forgot that I was sitting in the room, she went right under my legs a couple times! I sat so still so I wouldnt disturb her or scare her off.

Yesterday, I got little done around the house, as I was out most of the day helping a friend. I did spend some time with my neighbor, who is helping me to learn to knit…one of the things I thought I would have a difficult time learning. I am still alot better at crochet than knitting, but at least I will know how to do both. I still have two crochet projects to finish before I can think about starting yet another project. My goal is to finish one blanket this month and the other next month.

To wake up before noon and go to AC Moores. I also want to go back to Micheals, as I have a gift certificate that I can use. I am thinking of getting some yarn…or a book that I would normally not buy. I am still trying to find a little plastic or glass box to put the rose from my dads funeral in. I have a large wooden box that I will be using from now on to put ’special’ things in, but If I put the rose in there without anything around it, I am afraid that it will get broken into a million little bits.

I also have to vacuum, which is always fun, as the motor on the thing is going and it is loud enough to wake the dead. Dishes are piled in the sink…I really should do that tonight. But Abby is playing and I would rather play with my kittens than do chores. What a dilemma, chores or playing with my fur-babies….not as difficult to decide as one might imagine. The kitties will get played with now and the chores can wait for sleeping kitty time later.

Abby is having a blast with her little mouse. Everytime I go to the pet store for anything I pick up 2 of the little $.99 mice. They usually disappear within hours of Abby finding them. I have discovered quite a few under my bed where she hides she is such a silly girl. The one that she is playing with has little beads or something in it, she is just having a blast. I really do think she is getting all the play that she should have had as a kitten, out now. It is great to see little Abby-girl so energetic, and playing without a care. (she was just watching whales on TV). Well, Socks wandered by, so now Abby has found his tail again. He is like a Daddy-lion, he lets her play with his tail, when he has had enough or she bites him, he turns and swats her, telling her that he has had enough. Abby adores Socks, though I think Socks would rather have Abby as a shadow all the time.

It is snowing here again, this time it is all lake effect snow… Which, unfortunately has brought me down a little. My Dad lived in western New York and they get alot of the lake effect snow…My dad would write to me alot about how much snow they were getting. I would always look at the map to see what was coming from his direction. Oh well…

I guess this is my cue to go to sleep, I am watching the “Most Extreme” on Animal Planet…unfortunately I have seen it about a million times (ok…maybe about 10 or so)
