My excuse
Thursday, January 31st, 2008I was asked recently, why I have been working on the same blanket for so long.
Well, the answer is…Bonnie
I have a difficult time keeping her from playing with the yarn. I decided that I would try to crochet tonight, Bonnie was sleeping on my computer…but the moment the bag showed up, she woke up and I was able to get this picture.
Glass Bead Choker
Monday, January 8th, 2007I found this design on display at AC Moores, and this is actually the 4th necklace of this kind that I have made recently. I made this in green, blue, a green/blue combination and this one, black. This is the only one that I made the earings for. All but this one were given as Christmas presents. I did use the fresh water pearls in this design.

Triple Chain Necklace
Sunday, January 7th, 2007I found this one online as well. I really liked the necklace though I dont generally like long necklaces. I have been looking for a design I could use the tourquise in. This just seemed perfect. I am still looking for other tourquise necklace ideas.

Triple Glass Pearl
Saturday, January 6th, 2007This was my last project. I have found this design online and spent one day running to craft stores to find the different things I needed. Amazingly, I cant find everything at one store, I have to go to three different craft stores just to make one necklace. Oh well.
I made this necklace with Glass Pearls, as even Fresh Water Pearls were just to much money. I actually made this necklace 3 times before getting this “final” draft.

Butterflies
Friday, January 5th, 2007I finally took pictures of some of the jewelry that I have worked on in the past 4 or 5 months. This one is my favorite by far. It took a couple days to work out the design, and I settled with this.
TV is watchable again
Tuesday, November 7th, 2006Finally, all the nasty political ads are over! I cant tell you just how happy I am.
Today, the kids had the day off from school. In my town the schools are used as polling places, so they always have the day off. We went off to the craft store. The kids got a couple of projects and I was able to get the makings for a project as well…
This is a picture of the craft that I wanted to make…The picture of what I did make I will be saving for Thursday.
It is going to rain like crazy tomorrow, so I am not going to get much done outside. I still have to get the bulbs into the ground, but that can wait for Thursday and Friday.
Meanwhile…
This afternoon, I opened the bread drawer and found evidence of a mouse. So, I have unleashed the 3 felines, in hopes that their superior hunting skills will…um, catch the critter. My real hope is that Socks or Blackie finds it and Abby…um, terminates it. Socks has already proven that he is not the “killer” and I dont think Blackie would off the rodent either. Abby, however, had to hunt to stay alive for 4-5 years.
I really dont mind the mouse, in fact I would be very happy to find the mouse Outside! Basically, I dont mind to many things, like spiders, and mice, as long as they stay where they belong. It is when they move inside that I have a problem. For tonight, I have opened the cabinets and pulled out the drawer, Blackie is supervising the kitchen. In fact, he has been watching the kitchen for the last few days, so I think he knew something was up.
Tomorrow, I will let my little 4-legged hunters down into the basement to explore to their hearts content. The only thing I can figure is that the little stow-away, might have come in through the garage, as that is the only door that is opening on a regular basis, and, on occasion, has been left open for extended periods. I havent noticed any other openings to the outside, though I am sure that they exist.
My ankle is doing better, my foot is still swollen a bit. When I went out with the kids today, it started to hurt again, but I figure I just pushed it to far. Another reason to rest tomorrow.
Oh well, I shall be careful getting out of bed for the next few days…just in case
I learned something new
Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006see you can teach…oh, nevermind.
Anywho, I made yet another necklace, and earings. This time however I tried something I had not tried before. I wanted to make something interesting. I used straight jewelry wire and bent it to what I wanted. It took alot of testing to get just the right thing…
…but I did manage it. It is an interesting piece and now that I have tried this, I will try a few more ideas that have been rattling around in the dust in my brain. Here is the necklace as well, though it is much along the same lines, as the other things I have made.
UPDATE
When I work on something and it just isnt quite right, I find myself going back and making it “better”…so, here is the better version of the above necklace
Sunday…was not my day
Sunday, August 20th, 2006I wanted to make a new necklace this weekend, but everything I tried, didnt seem to work. I started with a necklace, but ended up beginning with the earings.
Once I got the earings made, I went back to working on the necklace. After a few ideas that didnt work, I found a design that worked…kind of. The necklace didnt want to lay flat…and the loops wanted to go in opposite directions. (of course, I didnt think through how to make everything work better, untill the necklace was finished) But, it seems to have worked out…
So, last night I pinned it down, so that it would hopefully, take the direction that I wanted it to, and it seemed to work! But this morning, my head decided that it didnt want me to move. I woke up with the same migraine that I have been fighting for almost 5 days now. My Eldest and Husband tried to get me to move. Eldest brought me caffine and my meds. I did wake up enough to feed the cats…Abby is persistant. But, the light outside was enough to drive me back into my Cocoon. I joked that if I slept for another 3 hours, I would have made it to complete vampire status.
Alright, after making dinner and doing a few other things, I went to take the above pictures…but before I got a picture that I was truely happy with, the batteries in the camera died…I just cant win. Well, at least the necklace and earings came out well.
taking it back…
Wednesday, August 16th, 2006Last night I was happy with how the necklace looked. I must have been really tired, because today, I kept looking at the necklace and thinking…there is something wrong with it. I am not sure if I will be able to “fix” it but I am giving it a shot.
Pictures will follow if I am happy with it.
