I’m not very political either, but I really feel strongly about this. The government is doing what it can to make us safe and people are reacting like all of their rights are being eroded.
I think that the goverment could do more, but legally their hands are tied. As for peoples rights, we really need to think of our safety or our privacy. As I heard one person asked for a comment for the nightly news…”This is irritating”…unfortunatly, I think that is what many think, instead of thinking about their safety.
I didn’t feel infringed upon in the slightest when I was detained in London because my passport and electrical components — plug adapters, a phone charger, extra compact flash cards, etc — identified me as a possible threat. I also didn’t feel infringed upon when I was told that my Christmas vacation to my boyfriend would have to be cut short because of certain “restrictions” — which weren’t specified to me and which weren’t applied to anyone else in the passenger queue.
What I do feel is anger that, even with all of these measures and cautions in place, we still have to rely on intelligence -less than 48 hours before the fact- that men were planning on blowing planes out of the sky using a solution that can be triggered by something that is regularly allowed on flights — a camera.
You are like myself then. I welcome added security, it means that I and others will be kept safe. I also think that your anger is justified, and goes right along with what I was saying. The government CAN do more, but because some whine about their “rights” and we cant seem to get anyone who will just stand up and say… “Thats it, live with it,” it will not get it done. My fear is that someone will make the changes that are needed, and half the people in this country will cry, whine and stomp their feet, and then the changes will be reversed. Nothing will change…again.
I live jsut outside of London, and I have to say that i dont really believe there was ever any terror plot. Just more political wrangling to keep us all on edge and beleiving that we are under threat. That way they can continue taking away our civil rights. Do we really want the government to be able to hold people without charge, without reason indefinatley? I dont think so. Terrorism? There is no more or less than there has evern been or ever will be. NWO here we come.
Could be, but I am not willing to risk my life. The saying “Those who dont learn from the past…” rings in my ears.

I keep thinking of that quote by Ben Franklin.
I remembered one, and found a couple more….
- God helps them that help themselves.
from Algernon Sidney (1622–1683
- After crosses and losses, men grow humbler and wiser.
- An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
