Severe Thunderstorms
Today, we had a couple severe thunderstorms come through again. This time, we had more trees damaged. I thought for sure that the “toothpick trees” (I have to find/take pictures)would come down with all the wind, but they stayed standing. As we were waiting out the storm, keeping the kids calm, my neighbor saw a runner of the lightning right out in the yard. So I figured I would go out after the storms and see what had happened.
Lots of trees were broken, possibily by the wind, or the lightning.

This one was the closest to the buildings, The top of the tree seemed to be a blackened.

I couldnt see the top of this tree, but it is snapped pretty good at about 10 feet off the ground.

This one was also broken at just about 10 foot.

another tree…this tree was hit by lightning. I was able to see scortched spots at the break.

We had a bad storm a few weeks ago that took down a tree on the side of our condo. Glad you survived your storm ok though. Southwest Ohio had three (and possibly 5) minor tornadoes yesterday with more storms predicted for tonight. This has been a pretty bad year for storms all over the midwest and especially the east. And I guess, from what I read, that global warming is responsible and we can expect this kind of weather more and more often. UGH.
I dont know about Global Warming, I dont neccesarily buy into the entire theory. All we need is one or two volcanos to lower the global temperature 5 degrees… (just me, just ignore my rambling)
I did hear about the tornados that you got today. Those storms are headed my way, thankfully, they will not be nearly as strong I hope that you are kept safe from the storms. We generally dont get bad storms this way…just wind usually, but this last couple have had some really strong lightning.
