Field Trip
I remember going on field trips. I remember the ones that I have gone on with my children much better than the ones I took as a child. I know that I should remember more, because they were learning experiences. In 8th grade, my class went to Washington DC for 5 days. We spent alot of time visiting the Memorials, the Smithsonian, and even the Whitehouse. (This was the mid 80s, security was not nearly as strict)
Why I am reliving this, is because my daughters 7th grade class left today for their Williamsburg/Washington DC trip. I dropped her off with the rest of the class at about 5:45 this morning and waited to wave to her as the busses pulled out of the school parking lot. This trip is going to be quite a bit different from mine. She will be required to take notes, keep a journal, and make a scrapbook, which will all be graded, as well as their behavior on the trip.
This year her Social Studies (more history than anything else) has been studying from the Pilgrims and will be finishing up with the Revolutionary War. This trip will be going to important stops along that time line. I hope that she is having a wonderful time, and I cant wait to look at her scrapbook.

OOohhh! That sounds like a great plan for the students. I would have loved that assignment, no doubt.
I hope she has fun and that she will fill you in on all of the neat details of her trip.
I hope that she is having a fun time too. I have been watching the weather and it seems that they havent had much rain, which is good. I cant wait for her to get home though, I am sure she will have lots of stories

That sounds marvelous! What a good idea … to require them to not only keep a journal but to also make a scrapbook! We didn’t do field trips when I was in school … well … there WAS one when I was in high school and that was a day trip to our state capitol building. It wasn’t even an overnight!
I didnt go on as many field trips as my kids do. My son has about 4 more field trips before the end of the year…which just happens to be about 30 days away! (subtracting weekends)

I’ve missed my daughter’s last two field trips. The last one I went on was to see Go Dog Go. Quite the fun time. It’s always fun to share memories like yours with your kids.
OH, I know how that can be, My son is in kindergarten and there are always parents who want to go. They I have missed quite a few of my sons. I hope that I get to go on one more trip before the year is over
